CCNA Security Certification Facts
The CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) Security credential is offered by Cisco, a technology company that is involved in manufacturing and selling of computer hardware products and telecommunications equipment. The CCNA Security certification is for technology experts who have proved their skills in developing a security framework, identifying network threats and vulnerabilities, as well as mitigating these security threats. It focuses on an individual’s ability to install, troubleshoot, and monitor the network to ensure that integrity, confidentiality, and efficiency in provision of Cisco networking services and products are adhered to.
To be eligible for this Cisco credential, the candidate must possess any of the following certifications: CCENT, any CCIE, or CCNA Routing and Switching. The CCNA Security certification is valid for three years. It comes with logos that can only be used with total adherence to the laid down Logo Guidelines.
The 210-260 IINS exam consists of 60-70 questions and takes 90 minutes to complete. The questions are usually in a multiple-choice format with single and multiple answers, fill-in-the blank, and drag-and-drop. Cisco does not report the exam passing scores because its tests are set based on statistical analysis. This implies that exam questions and required passing scores are bound to change. Once the candidate has passed the test, he/she receives score reports that show the attained scores for each exam section and overall passing score. An exam retake is only allowed five days after the last attempt. The test is provided by Pearson VUE.
The 210-260 exam is designed to test the candidates’ ability to understand the major security concepts, manage VPN encryption and install firewalls, secure access, prevent intrusion, and ensure web and email security. The students must demonstrate the following knowledge:
